OHIP and Your Ostomy
My Ostomy
What is OHIP?
The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) helps pay for many health services you may need and is an important resource to have when accessing ostomy reimbursement programs in Ontario.
To be eligible for the OHIP, you must meet specific requirements and qualification. After which, you must formally apply for coverage.
For more details on the process please visit the Government of Ontario OHIP webpage.
How can OHIP help Ostomates?
OHIP coverage can help you gain access to many of the health programs the province has to offer. One example of such programs is the Assistive Devices Program (ADP), a program that can help cover the costs of supplies for those with permanent ostomies. This is a health program that requires you to have a valid Ontario health card from OHIP coverage.
From your ADP eligibility, you can then apply for the annual Enteral Feeding and Ostomy Supplies Grant. This grant provides up to $975 per year to help cover for ostomy supplies.
